Family Session in Camarillo -Ventura County Photographer

May 13, 2026

There’s something about spring light that feels so energetic. It’s bright and alive, full of promise — hinting at the long golden evenings summer will bring. As a Ventura County family photographer, this season always fills me with a particular kind of excitement and what better way to celebrate the new energy spring brings than by celebrating a milestone of one of earths newest residents.

Six months was one of my favorite stages with each of my own children. Babies at this age are beginning to show so much personality — giving us little glimpses into who they might be in the months and years ahead. Getting to capture this sweet girl and the growing bond between her and her parents was an absolute joy. There’s something especially beautiful about witnessing first-time parents in action: the pure delight at every smile, the attentiveness to every coo, the tender and instinctive care that just seems to come naturally.

These enamored parents wanted to mark six months with a family session here in Ventura County. At this stage, it can feel like something changes overnight. You wake up and notice a look that is just a little older, a little bigger, wonderful in its own exciting way — but one small step further from that brand-new baby. This family wanted to hold onto the precious moments and sentimental details of this season of life with images to look back on for years to come.

The Location: A Golden Meadow in Camarillo

I chose a meadow in Camarillo for this session for the dreamy, golden light that filters in during the hour before sunset. The tree canopy also provides gentle protection from direct sun, which is especially important for little eyes. This location is easily accessible from many nearby towns, making it one of my favorite spots for family photography sessions in Ventura County.

The Session

We met about an hour before sunset and made our way across the bridge to the meadow, pausing along the way whenever the light was too good to pass up. I love letting the kids lead — and infants are no different. We kept things relaxed: breaks for snacks and drinks, no pressure, no rushing toward a shot. In my experience, that ease is exactly what creates the best images.

Planning Your Own Session – With Me, Your Ventura County Photographer

When to Schedule:

The best time for a session with an infant is whatever time works for them. As a Ventura County family photographer, I guide families to beautiful locations that will coincide with little ones’ schedules.

What to Wear:

For this session in Camarillo, I put together mood boards to help inspire a wardrobe that felt seasonal and fresh. I always want wardrobe choices to feel personal and comfortable while complementing the surroundings we’ve chosen together. I love working on wardrobe choices with my clients and creating outfits that will inspire confidence and showcase personality.

How Long it Takes:

Family sessions are up to one hour, allowing plenty of time for things to unfold naturally without wearing anyone out. This session came in just under an hour — and we walked away with beautiful, meaningful images while honoring this baby’s schedule.

A Note From Behind the Lens

This kind of work is such a joy. Spending this golden evening in a Camarillo meadow while capturing this new family’s treasured season of life was an honor. I’m always so grateful to be trusted with preserving these special moments.
